Vegetation and flora of the savannas in the Brinck-heuvel Nature Reserve, northern Suriname Research Paper

These savannas depend for their existence on a more or less impermeable layer at shallow depth in the soil; fire is not a major factor. The list of species present contains 25 grasses and 7 legumes. Among plant communities present were those characterized by Panicum froesii/Syngonanthus umbellatus, Mesosetum tenuifolium/M. cayennense/Bulbostylis circinata, Panicum nervosum/Hypolytrum pulchrum and by Paspalum pulchellum.-R.B.
